CAMPECHE.- On Sunday, August 22nd, an explosion was reported on the KU-Alfa platform in the Campeche probe, which would have left at least five injured, confirmed Pemex.

Following the explosion, Pemex workers rushed to close valves to prevent further damage to the oil facilities.

The blue code hospitals of the country’s productive company were activated in the area.

The explosion generated criticism against the energy policy of President López Obrador, who since he assumed power has opted for oil to achieve energy self-sufficiency in the country.

In addition, the president maintains a battle in the courts to defend his energy reform, which prioritizes state companies, Pemex and the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), over private investment in renewables.
