A 2 km line of stranded vehicles formed on this road

A 2-kilometer line of cars and stranded cargo units formed on both sides of the Mérida-Campeche highway, due to a power supply failure at the toll booth.

Caminos y Puentes Federales de Ingresos y Servicios Conexos (Capufe) reported that the traffic chaos recorded this Wednesday was due to a failure at the toll booth and not to the collapse of a bridge over the Mérida-Campeche highway, as reported through social networks.

The blackout affected the electronic toll collection system through the Automatic Vehicle Identifier (IAVE), which paralyzed the circulation of motorists traveling from Champotón to the state capital and vice versa, so many had to opt for the old stretch.

The power outage occurred last night, and more than 12 hours have passed.

This afternoon, the saturation of vehicles continues this federal highway belonging to Caminos y Puentes Federales (Capufe), the agency that confirmed the road problem at the Sabancuy toll plaza.

“The incident has been addressed and circulation is being restored. In the area, there is approximately a 2 km line in the direction of Champotón and 5 km in the direction of Campeche,” it was specified.
