CAMPECHE — The four Rocha Ortega sisters have issued an urgent public appeal to state and federal authorities, demanding the safe return of their parents, Francisco Rocha Suárez and Edith Ortega Bilbao, who were violently kidnapped by armed men in rural Campeche.
According to reports from the Local Commission for the Search of Persons, the married couple has been missing since the afternoon of Monday, June 29. The victims were traveling on a red and black ATV toward a ranch near the rural community of La Chiquita, located in the municipality of Escárcega, when they were intercepted in broad daylight.
In an emotional open letter shared across social media, Dayana Rocha—writing on behalf of herself and her sisters Cory, Abi, and Grecia—described the terrifying aftermath of the abduction. “We haven’t slept, we haven’t stopped searching for them everywhere,” Dayana stated. She further revealed that the family is facing a secondary crisis of targeted threats, extortion attempts, and the spread of falsified information regarding their parents’ whereabouts.
At the time of their disappearance, Edith Ortega Bilbao was wearing a blue and white striped shirt and a cap, while Francisco Rocha Suárez was wearing a blue plaid shirt, a gray cap, and boots.
The sisters have strongly petitioned authorities not to let the disappearance become just another stagnant file number. “We beg you to make use of all institutional tools to help us find them, so we do not end up orphans,” they pleaded.
In response, the Local Search Commission announced that coordinated field operations have been active in Escárcega since July 1. Specialized search teams are currently deploying personnel alongside the National Guard, State Civil Protection, and the Attorney General’s Office of Campeche to locate the missing couple.
