International Pirate and Rum Festival in Campeche

Listening to pirate stories and legends while enjoying the view of Campeche’s waterfront and sharing drinks with friends will be possible at the first International Pirate and Rum Festival.

What to See and Do at the International Pirate and Rum Festival

The first edition of the International Pirate and Rum Festival arrives in the Yucatán Peninsula as an event that combines history, culture, gastronomy, and tradition.

The festival’s theme is inspired by the pirates who once raided ports along the Gulf of Mexico, including Campeche. The city, a walled colonial settlement and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999, still preserves traces of that history in its traditions and cultural identity.

Rum will be the central attraction of the event. As a traditional regional beverage, its production benefits from the area’s natural conditions and tropical climate, which are ideal for both fermentation and distillation.

The festival will showcase the traditions, culture, history, and cuisine of Campeche.

More than 84 exhibitors from nine Mexican states that produce rum and sugarcane spirits will participate.

The guest country for this edition is the Dominican Republic. Its delegation will include master rum makers, gastronomic exhibitions, and cultural activities.
