A semi-truck transporting air conditioning units overturned on the federal highway connecting Frontera, Tabasco, with San Antonio Cárdenas on the Atasta Peninsula—an incident that resulted in looting by local residents and motorists.
The heavy vehicle came to rest on its side along the shoulder of the federal roadway. The cab ended up off the paved surface, while the cargo trailer lay amidst the brush, sustaining significant damage that left its contents exposed.
Following the accident, numerous individuals arrived at the scene on motorcycles and in private vehicles to pilfer the air conditioning units. The absence of security personnel and National Guard troops allowed the merchandise to be carried off in a matter of minutes.
Although the mishap caused property damage and traffic disruptions, no injuries have been reported thus far.
