The Senate received a request from Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum to authorize the entry of troops from Navy SEAL Team 8 for training exercises in Campeche from May 8 to 30 and from August 1 to October 15, announced Laura Itzel Castillo Juárez, a member of the Morena party and President of the Senate.
On her social media accounts, the senator specified that the 23 U.S. personnel arriving in Mexico will participate in the multinational amphibious exercise Phoenix 2026 in Campeche from May 8 to 30, 2026.
They will also be in charge of the “SOF 04 Event: Strengthening the Capability of Special Operations Forces,” to be held from August 1 to October 15, 2026, in the states of Campeche, Mexico State, Hidalgo, and Mexico City.
