A new case has put traffic authorities in Campeche under scrutiny after content creator Yulay publicly denounced an alleged act of corruption during his time in the state.
According to his account, traffic officers demanded a payment of 5,000 pesos to allow him to continue on his way.
When he refused, the influencer claims the officers proceeded to impound his truck and leave his recording equipment, which he says is of considerable value, exposed.
Following the dissemination of the case on social media, the State Transit Secretariat reported that the vehicle was impounded due to a lack of vehicle documentation, specifically the registration card.
However, they also confirmed the start of an internal investigation into what they described as an alleged complaint of misconduct by their officers.
The case has generated controversy and divided reactions, while the creator maintains that he has video evidence of what happened, authorities assure that the actions of the officers will be reviewed to determine responsibilities.
