Through a post shared on their social media, the Ley Sabina Campeche collective announced that they are following up on the complaint filed with the Campeche State Human Rights Commission against Governor Layda Sansores for the alleged unjustified arrests and imprisonment of two of their members. They also requested that the affected women and their families ratify the complaint so that a recommendation can be issued to the state governor.
The statement reads: “The Ley Sabina Campeche collective continues to monitor the complaint filed with the Campeche State Human Rights Commission against the governor of our state, Layda Elena Sansores San Román, for the alleged human rights violations against our members who were unjustly detained and imprisoned in the Kobén prison.”
She adds that it is now up to the women and their families to ratify this complaint so that the corresponding recommendation can be issued to the head of the state executive branch, so that she refrains from illegally interfering in the proceedings against two women who are presumed innocent, thereby avoiding any harm to their criminal case.
