Campeche Kindergarten Scandal: Teachers Fired for Drinking Beer on Campus; Parents Divided

A shocking video has sparked a scandal in the small town of Ciudad del Carmen in Campeche, Mexico, where three teachers were caught drinking beer on school premises while children were present. The incident led to their immediate dismissal by authorities from the local education secretariat.

According to a letter sent by concerned parents, the principal of the “Esther Rodríguez Meza” kindergarten and two other staff members, including an administrative secretary and a custodian, threw a party at the school before leaving for vacation. The gathering lasted until midnight, with some neighbors reporting that they had even taken pictures and videos.

The letter alleged that one of those involved is related to a high-ranking official in the education department, Zone 027 supervisor Aurora Ceh Reyna, who had been informed of the situation but failed to take action.

The parents expressed their outrage, stating that despite knowing the consequences of the teachers’ actions, they were unwilling to let it go. They wanted guarantees that similar incidents wouldn’t occur during school hours, putting the children’s safety and well-being at risk.

However, not all parents share the same sentiment. While some welcomed the decision to fire the teachers, others protested demanding their reinstatement, arguing that the punishment was too harsh. The controversy has left the community divided, with no clear consensus on how to move forward.

The incident has raised serious questions about the accountability of school officials and the need for greater oversight to ensure a safe and respectful learning environment for students in Mexico.
