Potential Tropical Cyclone Fifteen could evolve into Tropical Storm Nadine, bringing rain to Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) issued an alert this Friday about the formation of Potential Tropical Cyclone Fifteen near the Yucatán Peninsula, which is expected to evolve into Tropical Storm ‘Nadine.’
According to the agency, it is located 315 kilometers east-southeast of Puerto Costa Maya in Quintana Roo and 340 km east of Belize City.
It has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour with stronger gusts of up to 75 km/h.
The National Water Commission (Conagua) detailed that its interaction with Front Number 4 will cause torrential rains in Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo.
Wind gusts, waves of 2 to 4 meters high, and possible waterspouts are also expected along the coasts of Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo. Therefore, a watch zone has been established from Chetumal to Tulum.
The National Coordination of Civil Protection (CNPC) activated a green alert (low danger) for the south and east of Campeche; central and western Quintana Roo; southeastern Tabasco; and eastern Chiapas.
