AMLO thanks Trump for not closing border

Mexico’s President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador posted on his Twitter account, on Saturday March 21st, that he spoke with his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump and thanked him for not closing their countries’ shared border.

Lopez Obrador said he also proposed accelerating the implementation of a regional trade deal between the United States, Mexico and Canada, the USMCA accord, in order to boost the countries’ economic recovery.

U.S.-Mexico restricted non-essential travel along their common border, in order to avoid the spread of the COVID – 19 coronavirus at both sides of the border.

There are currently 18,170 positive cases of COVID-19 in the United States, and a total of 241 deaths from this virus.

While Mexico registers 316 people infected, and two deaths.
