In the last few hours, the Campeche State Attorney General’s Office (FGECAM) issued four official alerts requesting public assistance in the search for three minors and a young adult reported missing in different parts of the state.
The cases are as follows:
Juan Manuel López Calderón, 14 years old, last seen on February 28 in Isla Aguada, municipality of Carmen.
Esperanza del Jesús Hernández Vidal, 15 years old, disappeared on March 2 at 11:30 a.m. in the Ampliación 23 de Julio neighborhood, also in Ciudad del Carmen, after going out to buy something.
Raquel Guadalupe Heredia Barahona, 19 years old, and Ian del Jesús Argáez Heredia, 3 years old, last seen on February 28 at 12:00 p.m. in the Polvorín neighborhood, in the state capital, San Francisco de Campeche.
These are three minors and a young adult reported missing. Authorities emphasize that these reports coincide with the mention of “three minors and one woman” disappearing in a recent period, which has generated community alarm due to the recurrence of cases in both the capital and the municipality of Carmen.
Why are people disappearing in Campeche?
Although Campeche ranks among the states with the fewest disappearances in Mexico, with location rates exceeding 80%, the increase in alerts in the first days of March reflects a worrying trend.
The main causes of disappearance in the state include:
Family or personal problems, especially among teenagers who leave home without telling anyone.
Violence linked to organized crime, whose presence has increased in the region in recent years.
Human trafficking and exploitation, which primarily affects women and minors.
Other factors such as migration, accidents, or mental health issues.
Call to the public
The Campeche State Attorney General’s Office (FGECAM) urges the public to share official posts and provide any information that may help locate missing persons. The contact number is (981) 81-1-94-00.
Citizen collaboration is key in the immediate search protocols, where every report can make the difference in finding those currently being sought by their families alive.
