Carlos Loret de Mola revealed on his news program that acts of persecution against critics of the state government persist in Campeche, following the arrest of a young man who participated in the Ciudad del Carmen carnival wearing a costume alluding to the governor’s nephew.

The young man paraded in a brain costume and a t-shirt with the words “Gerardo Sánchez Sanzores,” referring to the relative of Layda Sansores San Román, nicknamed “Crazy Brain.” Although he does not hold public office, he has accompanied the state governor at events and has expressed his intention to run for governor in 2027.

Videos circulating on social media show municipal police officers subduing the young man, throwing him to the ground, and arresting him. According to Loret de Mola, he was accused of causing a disturbance and disrespecting authority, and had to pay a fine of 4,000 pesos to regain his freedom.
