The roadblock on the Atasta Peninsula, by residents demanding a solution to the power outages, which has been going on for more than 48 hours, has caused damage to the commercial sector amounting to several thousand pesos. Yesterday, photos were posted on social media showing the deaths of hundreds of chickens being transported to other states, as the truck was stranded in the middle of the roadblock in the town of San Antonio Cárdenas, said Carlo Alberto Arjona Gutiérrez, president of the Chamber of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (Canaco Servytur) of Ciudad del Carmen.

He stated that the roadblock is a complex situation for everyone in general, for the commercial sector and the public, and of course, there are severe economic consequences for those affected; all merchants who handle merchandise and products are feeling the effects of these circumstances.

A shipment of chickens was lost during the roadblock.
He added that the business sector is trying to be understanding of the difficulties faced by the residents of the Atasta Peninsula, and therefore, the most important thing is that there be absolute consistency on everyone’s part and that the conflict can be resolved. Ultimately, the goal is not to demonize either party, neither the government nor the residents, but the impact is still there.

They hope for a solution to the conflict.

“Hopefully, the circumstances that will resolve the conflict will occur soon, and the issue can be resolved, and the residents of Atasta can avoid these types of blockades that so harm the economy and the people in general,” he mentioned.

He noted that the commercial sector understands and understands that the residents of Atasta have reasons to protest the lack of electricity supply in their communities, but it seems that the roadblocks aren’t the only option. Hopefully, roadblocks aren’t the only option left for them, because ultimately, the commercial sector would be stuck.

I urge residents and authorities to reach agreements
“I urge both residents and authorities to reach a quick understanding and resolve this conflict that is so damaging to the economic life of the municipality of Carmen,” he added.

He pointed out that these blockades cause losses of thousands of pesos, because only the logistics that are stopped for 24 or 48 hours, means a series of expenses, the commitments that have been established with clients for the delivery of merchandise, the use that is given to consumer goods and of course everything perishable, everything that can lose its life, that has an expiration date, generates a terrible loss for merchants.
