The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) has revealed part of its emergency plan to address Hurricane Beryl, particularly in the states of Yucatán, Campeche, and Quintana Roo. The CFE has dispatched over two thousand electric workers, cranes, vehicles, emergency power plants, and even helicopters to strategic locations in these states in anticipation of Hurricane Beryl’s arrival.
In an official statement, the CFE outlined the deployment of a formidable workforce and equipment to tackle the contingency. More than two thousand two hundred electric workers have been sent to strategic points, accompanied by 360 cranes, 572 vehicles, 68 emergency power plants, 6 all-terrain vehicles, 27 mobile communication units, and 5 helicopters.
Regarding Hurricane Beryl’s expected impact in Yucatán, Campeche, and Quintana Roo, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) forecasts that it will begin generating rain on Thursday, July 4. The direct impact as a hurricane on national territory is predicted for noon on Friday, July 5, primarily affecting the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto in the state of Quintana Roo.
The CFE emphasizes its specific emergency response plans, highlighting the importance of mechanisms that enable timely decision-making in the event of power supply interruptions caused by tropical cyclones or any other natural phenomena. The company assures that all resources and personnel are prepared to act promptly and minimize the impact on affected communities.
The CFE, through the National Civil Protection System, is in close coordination with the Ministry of National Defense, the Navy, the National Water Commission, the Ministry of Health, state and municipal governments, to address any potential contingencies.
