In 2020, the entity reported three femicides

From the Yucatan peninsula, two entities appear on the list of the states with the highest incidence in the crime of rape and sexual abuse at the national level, according to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SNSP): with the last cut to January 21, 2021, Quintana Roo has 59 folders in process for rape and 28 for abuse, and Campeche has 21 cases of rape and three for sexual abuse that is under investigation.

Campeche registers one of the highest rates of rape per 100,000 inhabitants in the country of 2.06 percent, while Quintana Roo leads with an incidence of 3.35.

According to the SNSP report on violence against women, Campeche is in fifth place nationwide and Quintana Roo in fourth, Aguascalientes, Baja California, and Querétaro top the list

Regarding the emergency calls received to 911 in Campeche, they show that during 2020 there were 202 rapes, 53 cases of sexual abuse, and three femicides.

The beginning of 2021 changed the panorama in terms of cases of femicides in the Yucatán peninsula since in 2020 the three entities appeared on the list of the 100 municipalities with the highest number of this crime: Candelaria in Campeche, Mérida in Yucatán, and Benito Juárez in Quintana Roo, but in January Quintana Roo worsened their situation, repeated Benito Juárez and they added José María Morelos to the municipality.

However, despite the fact that the numbers fell at a general level by the beginning of 2021, since this year there are 1,270 complaints at the national level and last year they had 1,283, in Campeche, a place that maintains the status of number one in security, he already has folders under investigation for alleged violation.

In this sense, Quintana Roo is in fourth place and Yucatán in the last with three, all under investigation and as a presumption until they prove otherwise.
