According to information from the CROC union commissioner Brigido Acuña, an agreement was made with the hotel in the liquidation of the employees, but with a signed agreement that they would be rehired as of June 1.

In the meantime, he says the employees will receive some pay by way of 1,478 pesos a month in food vouchers, and not lose the paid vacation time they are owed.

The company dismissed the mass of employees due to the partial closure of the hotel as a consequence of the loss of tourism due to coronavirus. Brigido Acuña added that they are hoping to place the dismissed employees in other hotels until they are reinstated at The Fives.

On Thursday, the government of Quintana Roo announced tax incentives would be provided to companies that do not fire their workers.
